object description
These skateboard decks come ready to hang with mounting hardware and are part of a limited edition of 100. The decks feature an image from Louise Bourgeois', Ode À Ma Mére (1995)

The spider motif is something that can be seen multiple times through out Louise Bourgeois' work. From a young age she worked alongside her mother at her family's tapestry restoration business. Her mother, Joséphine, was an especially skilled weaver and spent much of her time reweaving textiles that were seemingly beyond repair. Much like a spider, Joséphine, had the ability to create something beautiful and intricate from very little. Bourgeois went on to learn many of these same skills, and thus the spider is not only representative of her experience with textiles, but pays homage to her and her mother's relationship.

Our partners at The Skateroom, who collaborated with The Metropolitan Museum of Art to make this edition, donate a significant part of their profit to support social initiatives that make the world a better place.
